Two-Year-Old Ulyana Has A Heart Defect. Heart Surgery Can Save Her Life. Please Help.
"A single mother is writing you. I have a wonderful little girl. Her grandparents love her with all their heart, and for me Ulyana is everything. My daughter was born with a heart condition. The doctors assured me that it is not terrible, that such a defect is found in every other child, and by two years of age, it will disappear by itself. Recently they again conducted an medical exam, and found that there are two defects and they are not going to close, on the contrary - they are growing bigger! Our doctor insists on surgery and recommends that it be performed at the Tomsk Cardiac Center. I have heard rave reviews from parents of children with heart defects about the Tomsk doctors and I really desire to have them operate on Ulyana.
Only we have no money to pay for the surgery. They do not accept us into kindergarten, and yet we have to work somehow... Up to now we are supported by my parents; as a single mother, I get only 280 rubles a month ($10US). Ulyana’s father lives in another town. We do not get any money from him. My daughter sleeps restlessly, grows slowly, is thin and pale. Already, her lips are turning blue. The cardiologists explained to me that her heart wall is very fragile and may break from the stress of an illness or being overloaded. I'm deathly afraid. Please help save my child!"
Ulyana was successfully operated at the Tomsk Cardiac Center in Siberia on July 19, 2011.
Ulyana's atrial septal defect was closed with a medical device called an occluder. "The blood circulation in the heart restored, said Dr. Evgeny Krivoshchekov, "her heart is working normally, Ulya is healthy." Ulyana's mother Elizabeth thanks Russian Gift of Life USA for helping to save her daughter's life.
