Little Danil has coarctation of the aorta, a birth defect. The aorta is a
major artery leading out of the heart. Coarctation means the artery has
narrowed. Without treatment most people with his condition die before
At eight months of age, Danil had open heart surgery to correct the coarctation of his aorta. The surgery was successful for a time. However, as he grew, Danil's aorta again narrowed.
Russian Gift of Life raised the funds needed for Danil's heart surgery and travel expenses from Russia. Danil is from Lipetsk, Russia.
