Two-Year-Old Pavel Has An Atrial Septal Defect. Heart Surgery Can Save His Life. Please Help.
Little Pavel has an ASD. It's a birth defect called an atrial septal defect. The wall that separates the upper chambers of the heart
(atria) does not close completely. Without surgery, Pavel risks pulmonary hypertension,
stroke, and heart failure.
Pavel is only two years old, but he is big for his age. He is also unafraid to go off exploring on his on. Many a time he would wander off from his mother. He loves cars and trucks and he loves making the sound of an engine running.
Pavel's mother made the long journey from Russia with him.
Gift of Life, Inc. and Russian Gift of Life, USA raised the funds needed for Pavel's surgery and travel expenses thanks to your generosity.
Pavel was successfully operated at Saint Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York on March 24, 2010.
