Two-Year-Old Kira Has An Atrial Septal Defect. Heart Surgery Can Save Her Life. Please Help.
Kira is a precocous two-year-old. She is painfully shy, but also a bit mischievous. You’d never know she had a life threatening heart defect. Kira has an ASD (atrial septal defect), a condition in which the wall that separates the upper chambers of the heart
(atria) does not close completely. Kira risks pulmonary hypertension,
stroke, and heart failure if it the ASD is not corrected. She has had heart murmurs since she was born.
Kira's mother made the long journey from Russia with her.
Gift of Life, Inc. and Russian Gift of Life, USA raised the funds necessary for Kira's surgery and travel expenses thanks to your generosity.
Kira was successfully operated at Saint Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York on March 24, 2010.
